More about this keycap set
What's in the Box
This is a complete coverage set. 227 keys means you get standard ANSI, ISO, 65% arrows, 75% nav cluster, numpad, and enough novelties to fill most split or ergonomic layouts. The 400g weight is substantial—PBT is denser than ABS, and you feel it when you lift the tray.

- Keys: 227
- Weight: 400g

The Color Breakdown
The alpha keys wear a desaturated olive that reads as "aged terminal" rather than military green. Modifiers shift to an off-white cream with subtle yellowing, like plastic that's spent decades under fluorescent office lighting. The legends are where the "Neon" name earns itself: hot pink on function rows, electric cyan on alphas, with the occasional safety-orange escape key. It's not a clean, modern palette. It's intentionally discordant in the way vintage tech often was—beige boxes with unexpectedly loud LED indicators.
How MDA Actually Types
MDA profile keeps the spherical top of SA but drops the height. You get that cupped finger landing without the wrist extension. The PBT surface has the standard matte texture—slightly grainy, resistant to the shine that develops on ABS after heavy use. Double-shot construction means the legends are physically a second piece of plastic, not printed or dyed. They won't fade, ever. The combination creates a typing experience that's tactile without being aggressive: more feedback than Cherry, less height than SA, with the durability to outlast several keyboards.
Common Questions
Is this set worth $99.99 for a first mechanical keyboard build?
At this price point, you're paying for completeness and construction. 227 keys covers virtually any layout you might migrate to later, and double-shot PBT at this scale typically sits in the $80-120 range. The MDA profile is less common than Cherry or OEM, so you're also buying into a specific ergonomic preference—medium sculpt with shorter travel than SA.
Will these fit my Gateron or Kailh switches?
Yes. Cherry MX compatibility means any cross-stem switch works: Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu, Akko's own switches. The stems are standard + shape. No modification needed.
How does double-shot compare to dye-sub for durability?
Double-shot physically embeds the legend as a separate plastic piece. Dye-sub uses heat to bond pigment into the surface. Both resist wear better than pad-printing, but double-shot is theoretically permanent—the legend is the keycap structure, not a layer on top. For a set with this many keys and this price, double-shot is the expected standard.
