More about this keycap set
What's in the Box
This ships as a single 140-key set covering everything from compact 60% boards (61 keys) through full-size 108-key layouts, plus common alternate bottom rows and modifier sizes. The 400g package includes standard and stepped Caps Lock, split and full right Shift, multiple bottom row configurations for Winkey and Winkeyless layouts, and a 7u spacebar alongside standard 6.25u.
No novelty kit needed, no spacebar kit to chase. For a $99.99 price point, the completeness matters—cheaper sets often force compromises on 75% or 96% compatibility.
The Dark Ghost Cat Aesthetic
The color blocking follows a deliberate two-tone scheme: charcoal gray on the alphas (A-Z, numbers) and warm off-white on modifiers (Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Fn). This isn't stark contrast—think weathered concrete against aged parchment rather than pure black on white.
The ghost cat motif appears in three locations: the spacebar features a full-width illustration of a cat in traditional Japanese yokai styling, hooded and flowing; the Enter key carries a smaller seated figure; and the function row (F1-F12) incorporates subtle paw prints and whisker marks as secondary legends. The line work is fine enough to read clearly on the dark gray base without overwhelming the minimalist foundation.
Dye-sublimation keeps these graphics crisp. The process heats ink into the PBT surface permanently—no pad printing to wear off, no stickers to peel.
How MDA Actually Types
MDA profile occupies a specific middle ground. Taller than Cherry (which keeps fingers close to the board for speed), shorter than SA (which demands deliberate finger lifts). The spherical top—slightly dished rather than cylindrical—creates a pocket that centers fingertips naturally.
PBT material here is standard solid construction, not the PBT+PC hybrid used for RGB shine-through. The texture is matte, slightly grainy, resistant to the gloss that develops on ABS caps after months of use. For users coming from OEM profile prebuilts, the height increase is noticeable for the first day; for Cherry profile veterans, it's a modest step up with more top surface contact.
The sculpted rows (R1-R4 vary in height and angle) maintain proper ergonomics without the aggressive forward tilt of some high-profile sets.
Compatibility Notes
Cherry MX stem compatible—fits Gateron, Kailh, Akko, Outemu, and other MX clones. The 140-key count specifically accommodates:
- 60% / 61-key (standard and HHKB-style)
- 65% / 68-key with right-side blocker
- 75% with exploded arrow cluster
- TKL / 87-key
- 96% / 1800 compact
- Full-size / 104-108 key
Not included: keyboard, switches, stabilizers. This is keycaps only.
Common Questions
Is MDA profile good for gaming compared to Cherry or OEM?
MDA sits higher than Cherry, which some FPS players find slows rapid key presses slightly. The spherical top can feel less precise for edge-key activation (Ctrl, Shift spam) compared to cylindrical Cherry or OEM profiles. For MOBA or typing-heavy games, the finger positioning benefits often outweigh this. The PBT texture also provides more grip than smooth ABS during longer sessions.
Does the dye-sub printing fade or wear off?
No. Dye-sublimation chemically bonds the ink into the plastic rather than sitting on top. The legends on this set will outlast the texture of the PBT itself. This contrasts with pad-printed budget caps or laser-etched ABS, both of which show wear within months of heavy use.
What keyboard color works best with Dark Ghost Cat?
The charcoal/off-white palette is intentionally neutral. It pairs cleanly with black, dark gray, or silver aluminum cases without clashing. E-white or beige cases create a tonal match with the modifiers. Avoid bright primary color boards—the muted yokai aesthetic works against neon yellow or electric blue chassis.
