More about this keycap set

What "Retro Stamp" Actually Looks Like

The color palette draws from postal history rather than pop culture. Alphas sit in a desaturated olive green—think military surplus or the patina of old copper rather than forest or sage. Modifiers shift to cream-white, the shade of paper yellowed by decades of storage. The dye-sub printing mimics the slightly imperfect, slightly faded quality of vintage stamp perforations and cancellation marks. No glossy finishes, no RGB compatibility, no transparent layers—just opaque PBT in two colors that have already started looking old.

The 132-key count includes coverage for most standard layouts: 60%, 65%, 75%, TKL, 96%, and full-size 104/108 boards. The set ships at 350g, substantial enough that the box has heft without being excessive.

How Cherry Profile Changes Your Typing

Cherry profile sits lower than OEM—approximately 2mm shorter at the home row. The sculpted design means each row has a distinct angle: R1 (bottom) and R4 (top) angle toward the center, R2 and R3 (home rows) remain relatively flat. Your fingers travel less vertical distance between rows, which becomes noticeable during long writing or coding sessions. The PBT surface carries a fine matte texture, less slick than ABS even when hands are warm. Over months of use, this texture softens slightly but does not develop the glossy patches characteristic of worn ABS.

What's Compatible

  • Switches: Cherry MX cross-stem and clones (Gateron, Kailh, Outemu, Akko, etc.)
  • Layouts: 61/64/68/71/87/96/104/108 keys
  • Not included: Keyboard, stabilizers, switches, or tools

The set uses standard Cherry spacing and stem alignment. North-facing switch interference is unlikely given the profile height, though this depends more on your specific switch and PCB combination than the keycaps themselves.

Dye-Sub on PBT: Why This Combination

Dye-sublimation works by heating solid dye until it converts to gas, allowing it to penetrate the PBT surface and solidify within the plastic matrix. The result is a legend that cannot flake, scratch, or wear off through normal use—distinct from pad-printing (surface layer, wears quickly) or even double-shot (physically separate plastic, durable but limited to simpler color combinations). Dye-sub enables the subtle, slightly distressed stamp aesthetic here; double-shot molding would struggle to replicate the faded, imperfect character edges.

Questions That Actually Come Up

Is this set worth the $34.99 price point for a first mechanical keyboard build?

At this price, you're getting full layout coverage (132 keys), genuine PBT rather than ABS, and a durable dye-sub process. Comparable sets from larger brands often cost $45-60 for similar specifications. The tradeoff is brand recognition and potentially longer shipping times; the material quality itself matches or exceeds several $50+ options.

How does the olive green and cream colorway pair with common keyboard case colors?

The muted, desaturated tones work with more case colors than aggressive palettes. Olive complements silver, gray, black, and even forest green anodized aluminum. Cream modifiers soften the contrast against beige, white, or e-white cases. Avoid pairing with bright primary colors—red, blue, or yellow cases clash with the vintage, faded aesthetic.

Will Cherry profile feel strange if I'm coming from a stock OEM keyboard?

The first hour feels different: your fingers sit closer to the desk, and the sculpted rows guide hand position more actively. Most users adapt within a day or two. The reduced finger travel becomes comfortable rather than foreign, particularly for touch-typists who don't look at keys. If you prefer the taller, more uniform feel of OEM, Cherry may feel too low; if you want to try lower profiles without committing to XDA's complete flatness, Cherry offers a middle ground.
